Rider Sweeps MAAC Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

 
Men’s Track Performer of the Week:
Artie Burgess, Rider
Sr., Coatesville, PACoatesville High School
 
Senior sprinter Artie Burgess won the 300m at the Rutgers Holiday Classic with a time of 34.05, setting a new Rider Record. The previous record had stood for 16 years.
 
Men’s Field Performer of the Week:
Devynn Lee, Rider
Sr., Jackson, NJ, Jackson Memorial
 
Senior Devynn Lee won the high jump at the Rutgers Holiday Classic clearing 2.04m, an IC4A qualifying mark.
 
Women’s Track Performer of the Week:
Hailey Plamer, Rider
Jr., South Plainfield, NJ, South Plainfield
 
Junior sprinter Hailey Palmer broke a Rider record in the 300m at the Rutgers Holiday Classic, running 40.45. The previous record had stood since 1999. 
 
Women’s Field Performer of the Week:
Samantha Kamara, Rider
Sr., Parlin NJ, Sayreville
 
Senior thrower Samantha Kamara won the weight throw at the Rutgers Holiday Classic with a throw of 17.28m. It is an ECAC qualifying mark and the #9 mark all time at Rider.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25, 2024, at the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory in New York, New York. The two-day meet will be hosted by Manhattan College and will be held at The Armory for the 20th consecutive year. With 11 institutions strongly bound by the sound principles of quality and integrity in academics and excellence in athletics, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) is in its 43rd year of competition during the 2023-24 academic year. Current conference members include: Canisius University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College. Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
