Schein-Becker, Snyder Highlight Rider's USTFCCCA Academic Honorees

Men's, Women's Cross Country and Track & Field Teams honored for academic achievement

NEW ORLEANS – The Rider University men's and women's track and field teams were both named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams by the organization on Thursday. In addition to the team accomplishments, Tamrat Snyder of the men's team and Teagan Schein-Becker of the women's team were selected as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes, each earning the honor for the second-straight year.

To be selected as an All-Academic Team, the team must produce a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The men's team has a cumulative team GPA of 3.17 and the women's team finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.32.
 
For individuals, student-athletes are required to maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and participate in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships or finish in the top 96 of a championship individual event or top 48 of a championship relay event during the indoor season.
 
Snyder, a junior marketing and sport management major, ranked 13th in the East entering the 2022 NCAA East Preliminary Championships in the 800-meters with a time of 1:47.70. He went on to earn All-MAAC honors in cross country with a 13th-place finish at 2022 MAAC Championships and was the MAAC Indoor Champion in the 800 meters. He's Rider's indoor and outdoor record holder in the 800 meters.  

Schein-Becker, already a Rider graduate with a degree in graphic design and currently pursuing her Masters in athletic leadership, is a two-time All-MAAC finisher in cross country, a two-time NCAA Outdoor East Preliminary Qualifier in the 1500 meters, a two-time ECAC Indoor Champion in the mile and a two-time MAAC Outdoor Track Most Outstanding Performer. She's won nine gold medals combined at MAAC Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships and holds eight program records – the indoor 800 meters, mile and DMR, along with the outdoor 800 meters, 1500 meters, 4x800, 4x1500 and DMR.
