MAAC Announces Swimming & Diving Weekly Award Honorees

Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
Marin de Villard, Canisius
Fr., Biarritz, FranceSaint Felix School
 
In the eight events that Marin de Villard competed in this weekend, de Villard took home first prize in six. De Villard won all four events in Canisius' home meet versus John Carroll. He won the 200 back (1:52.57), 500 freestyle (4:50.41), 100 back (51.10) and led a 200 medley relay victory with a 23.46 backstroke split. In the Griffs' meet against Niagara the following day, de Villard earned a first place finish in both the 100 (50.53) and 200 (1:52.79) backstroke.
 
Co-Men’s Diver of the Week:
Marcas Racevicius, Rider

Senior diver Marcas Racevicius scored 259.45 on the 3-meter and 281.95 on the 1-meter in Rider's meet at NJIT.
 
Co-Men’s Diver of the Week:
Dillon O'Connor, Fairfield
Jr., Greenland, N.H.Saint Thomas Aquinas
 
Dillon O'Connor swept both diving events as the Stags competed against Iona University last weekend. The junior opened the meet with 271.20 points to pick up first place in the 1-meter dive and followed up with 281.18 points to capture first place in the 3 meter dive.
 
Women’s Swimmer of the Week:
Alaina Pitton, Niagara
Fr. Portland, OR, Jesuit High School
 
Freshman Alaina Pitton won three individual events vs Canisius, the first being the 100 breast with a time of 1:01.81, followed by the 200 breast with mark of 2:16.40, and lastly the 200 IM un 2:06.56. Her times in the 100 and 200 breast were both pool and program records, while her 200 IM time was fast enough for the Oxy Aquatic Center record. The freshman also set a program and pool record in the 50 breast with her split of 28.72 in the 100 breast. Her 200-breast time is the best in the MAAC.
 
 
Women’s Diver of the Week:
Alexis Gaulin, Fairfield
Sr., Plainville, Mass, Bishop Feehan High School
 
Alexis Gaulin swept the diving events in a dual meet with Iona University last weekend with both scores setting school records in addition to being zone scores. She broke her own school record with 273.60 points in the 1 meter before returning to the board to tally 290.33 points in the 3 meter.
 
 
The 2024 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships is a four-day meet that will take place February 14-17, 2024 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. The 2024 championships will be the first time the meet is held at SPIRE Institute. Current conference members include: Canisius University, Fairfield University, Iona University, Manhattan College, Marist College, Mount St. Mary’s University, Niagara University, Quinnipiac University, Rider University, Saint Peter’s University, and Siena College. Merrimack College and Sacred Heart University will join the MAAC as full members in the 2024-25 academic year, expanding the conference to 13 institutions.
