MAAC Esports Championships Concluded With Iona, Quinnipiac and Mount St. Mary’s Bringing Home MAAC Titles

EDISON, NJ. (April 3, 2025) – The 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Esports Championships, held on March 29-30, was a two-day event at Contenders Esports in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., showcasing the best esports players from the league. The championships, streamed live on the MAAC Esports Twitch channel, featured five highly competitive titles: League of Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros., and Valorant. Each title had its Semifinals on Saturday, March 29, followed by Championship Finals on Sunday, March 30, where the top teams battled for the coveted championship titles.


Saturday's action-packed semifinals saw intense matchups across all five titles. Overwatch featured #1 Marist facing #4 Manhattan, and #2 Mount St. Mary's against #3 Quinnipiac. Super Smash Bros. had Iona taking on Marist and Quinnipiac facing off with Manhattan. In League of Legends, #1 Rider went up against #4 Siena, while #2 Iona and #3 Quinnipiac clashed. Rocket League saw Quinnipiac facing Mount St. Mary's, and Siena took on Canisius. Valorant's Semifinals included Iona against Siena, and Manhattan vs. Fairfield. With each match-up showcasing high-level play, the stage was set for the Championship Finals on Sunday.


Sunday's Championship Finals were an exciting conclusion to the weekend's events. Marist and Mount St. Mary's faced off in Overwatch, with Mount St. Mary's emerging victorious. Rider and Iona clashed in League of Legends, where Iona claimed the win. In Rocket League, Quinnipiac defeated Siena to take the title. Iona continued their strong performance by winning the Valorant final against Fairfield, and Quinnipiac came out on top in Super Smash Bros., defeating Iona to take the championship. Each of the champions had standout performances, with MVPs awarded to Jacob Bukwald (Rocket League), Wyatt Siller (Valorant), Sylvie Seelie (Super Smash Bros.), Sam Bartholomew (Overwatch), and James Bales (League of Legends).

The championship marked a pivotal moment for the MAAC Esports teams, with the next big challenge coming up—the Mid-Atlantic Esports Conference Championships on April 5-6. The champions from this weekend's event will have the opportunity to compete for a national bid.
