Marist Claims 2025 MAAC Softball Championship Title

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (May 11, 2025) – The Marist University Red Foxes claimed the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Softball Championship Title in dominant fashion on Sunday afternoon, defeating Siena 10-2 in five innings at home on Gartland Field. The win secures Marist’s spot in the NCAA Tournament, with their destination to be revealed during the NCAA Selection Show tonight at 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

Marist wasted no time putting their mark on the title game, erupting for nine runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by a grand slam from MAAC Player of the Year Maddie Pleasants. The Red Foxes sent 13 batters to the plate in the frame, tallying nine hits, including a two-run homer by Samantha Rogers and an RBI blast from Maddie Gore.

Siena responded with two runs in the second inning to cut into the deficit with RBIs from Melton and Swinson, but it wasn’t enough to slow Marist’s momentum. The Red Foxes added an insurance run in the fourth, courtesy of Samantha Rogers' second home run of the day, to enforce the eight-run rule by the fifth inning.

Rogers finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and two home runs, while Pleasants added four RBIs with her first-inning grand slam. Pitching duties were handled efficiently by Marist’s staff, allowing just two runs on seven hits while keeping the Saints off the board in four of five innings.

With the championship win, Marist captures its fifth MAAC title in program history and will now await its NCAA Tournament placement.
