Male Student-Athlete of the Week
Dylan Collins, Canisius, Men’s Lacrosse
Sr./ Buffalo, NY Hamburg High School
A four-year member of the men’s lacrosse program, Collins has appeared in all 11 games for the Golden Griffins this season, registering two goals, 17 ground balls and six caused turnovers. He scored his second goal of the season in Canisius’ matchup against league foe Mount St. Mary’s on April 4. Collins also established a career high with four ground balls in the Griffs road contest at Sacred Heart on March 21.
A biology major, Collins is a two-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection who has garnered Dean’s List distinction on five occasions.
Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Gina Del Giorno, Mount St. Mary’s, Softball
Sr./ Thornton, PA, Rustin, High School
Del Giorno is a senior leader for the Mount St. Mary's softball lineup. She has made her presence felt at the top of the lineup all season long, hitting .370 for the season and .388 in MAAC games. A slap hitter by trade, Gina can also plaster the ball, with eight extra base hits for the year. She is also among the top clutch hitters on the team, ranking fifth in RBI, and is second for stealing bases, swiping 12 bags in 13 tries.
