2025-26 Richard J. Ensor, Esq. MAAC Commissioner’s Cup Final Standings Announced

EDISON, NJ (May 26, 2026) – Fairfield University and Marist University have been announced as the winners of the 2025-26 Richard J. Ensor, Esq. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Commissioner’s Cup, announced by the league office today.

The Fairfield Stags captured both the Overall Commissioner’s Cup and the Women’s Commissioner’s Cup, for the third consecutive academic year, while the Marist Red Foxes claimed the Men’s Commissioner’s Cup.

Fairfield secured the overall cup and women’s cup in 2025-26 for the third and fifth straight times, respectively. The Stags become the first program to win at least three consecutive overall cups since Monmouth won five straight from 2014-15 through 2018-19, and Fairfield is just the fifth program in the MAAC to achieve this feat ever. The overall cup for the Stags was the program’s seventh trophy since 1994-95. The women’s cup for Fairfield was the fifth straight and sixth over the past seven seasons dating back to 2019-20. This year’s women’s cup was the program’s 14th – the most among current MAAC member. In total, Fairfield owns 24 MAAC Commissioner’s Cups to date, having also won three men’s cups previously. The 24 total all-time cups are second-most in the MAAC behind Marist. During the 2025-26 campaign, Fairfield won both the MAAC Championships and MAAC Regular Season titles in women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, and women’s lacrosse. The Stags swept the men’s and women’s swimming and diving championships and also picked up a regular season championship in women’s soccer. The Stags also finished as championship runner-up in women’s golf and baseball. In sports that require teams to qualify for the MAAC Championship, Fairfield clinched berths in nine total postseasons, only missing out on one championship appearance in sports the Stags sponsor that compete within the MAAC.

Marist was crowned as the men’s champion for the ninth time – the most in MAAC history – its first in over a decade, last winning the cup following the 2012-13 season. In total, the Red Foxes have amassed 31 Commissioner’s Cups, a mark that is the most by any MAAC member ever, current or former. In addition to the nine men’s cups, Marist has won 12 overall cups, and 10 women’s cups. Marist garnered three men’s championship trophies in 2026. The Red Foxes won the men’s lacrosse championship and regular season title and claimed the men’s tennis regular season crown. Additionally, Marist was the runner-up in men’s swimming & diving and men’s tennis.

The Richard J. Ensor, Esq. MAAC Commissioner’s Cup is awarded annually as a symbol of overall excellence in athletics in the 23 championships conducted within the MAAC. Only the scores from Men’s & Women’s Basketball, plus the top six men’s and top six women’s scores are used to determine an institution’s total points. On May 1, 2023, the MAAC Council of Presidents approved the renaming of the MAAC Commissioner’s Cup after retired MAAC Commissioner Richard J. Ensor, Esq., in honor of his legacy and exemplary service to intercollegiate athletics.
