Northeast Beef MAAC Baseball Weekly Awards Given to Canisius’ Weeks, Merrimack’s Hunkele, and Quinnipiac’s Camac

Eric Weeks, Canisius

Junior Eric Weeks was locked in at the plate for Canisius this past week. In the midweek win over Le Moyne, Weeks went 3-for-6 with two home runs and a double, driving in seven and scoring three times. He carried that momentum into the weekend at Manhattan, going 6-for-13 with six RBI, a home run and a double. The Pittsburgh native finished the week 9-for-19, racking up 13 RBI, five runs scored, three homers and two doubles.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Nick Hunkele, Merrimack
R-So., West Haven, CT, Notre Dame West Haven High School
 
Nick Hunkele pitched a career best eight innings, with nine strikeouts. In the shutout performance Hunkele only allowed one hit and one walk. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Chase Camac, Quinnipiac
FY., Northfield, NJ, Mainland Regional High School
 
Chase Camac had a great week for the Bobcats, helping them to a 4-1 week across five contests. Camac recorded nine hits on 18 at-bats for a .500 batting average. Camac finished the week with five RBIs, four runs, and two stolen bases in two attempts. 
 
The 2026 MAAC Baseball Championship is a six-team double elimination championship that will take place at Heritage Financial Park in Wappingers Falls, NY on May 20-23, 2026. This will be the 14th time that the championship is hosted at the ballpark (previously named Dutchess Stadium), the most in MAAC history.
