MAAC Schools Complete Competition at 2021 NCAA Cross Country Regional Championships

EDISON, NJ (Nov. 12, 2021) – 10 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) institutions competed in the 2021 NCAA Cross Country Regional Championships today at the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and the Northeast Regional in Boston, Massachusetts.
 
At the Northeast Regional, Iona’s men led the MAAC with a third-place finish, posting a team score of 77. Ehab El-Sandali finished the 10k race in first place with a field-best time of 30:03, while Ed Goddard finished seventh (30:22). Following the Gaels at the regional were Manhattan (17th), Siena (18th), Marist (21st), Canisius (22nd), Quinnipiac (29th), and Fairfield (35th).
 
On the women’s side, Iona finished sixth to lead the MAAC with a team score of 213. Gael runner Sophie Murphy finished in eighth place with a 6k time of 20:57. Rounding out the field was Quinnipiac (15th), Siena (20th), Marist (23rd), Canisius (29th), Fairfield (32nd), and Niagara (36th).

At the Mid-Atlantic Regional, Monmouth finished 11th with a score 348 and Rider finished 15th scoring 485 on the men’s side.
 
For the women, Monmouth’s Sammi Ragenklint finished eighth, with a finishing time of 20:28 in the 6k race. The Hawks would place eighth as a team, with a score of 272. Rider finished with a score of 473, good for 18th place.

The NCAA Division I Championship will take place November 20 in Tallahassee, Florida at Apalachee Regional Park hosted by Florida State.
