Quinnipiac Wins Third Straight MAAC Women’s Cross Country Championship Crown

MONTGOMERY, NY (Nov. 2, 2024) – Quinnipiac University won its third straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 2 at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, New York.
 
Fairfield University freshman, Hannah Snayd earned 2024 Women’s Most Outstanding Runner honors and the 2024 Women’s Rookie of the Year award, finishing the 6k course in a MAAC Championship course record time of 20:36.3. She becomes the first ever individual MAAC champion from Fairfield.
 
Quinnipiac posted a winning score of 31 en route to the program’s fourth overall team title. The Bobcats had five runners secure top-15 finishes and earn All-MAAC accolades. Leading the charge for Quinnipiac was silver medalist Alessandra Zaffina, who crossed the finish line in a time of 20:45.6. Joining Zaffina in the top-five was Rachel St. Germain, who finished fifth with a time of 20:50.1. Sierra Gray (20:51.0), Lauren Selkin (20:56.0), and Corinne Barney (21:05.7), finished in sixth, seventh, and 11th, respectively, to round out Quinnipiac’s All-MAAC honorees. Also earning top-five finishes were bronze medalist Julia Caputo (20:48.5) of Siena and Grace Medei (20:49.9) of Rider who placed fourth.
 
Joining Snayd on the MAAC All-Rookie Team were Ella Krumpek of Canisius, Iona’s duo of Kiera Atkinson and Muireann Duffy, and Quinnipiac’s Madeleine O’Neill.

Postseason competition continues on Friday, November 15 at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship which takes place at Hopkinton State Fairgrounds Cross Country Course, Hopkinton, New Hampshire. The NCAA Division I Cross Country Men's and Women's Selection show will air live on ncaa.com on Saturday November 15 at 5:00 p.m. The NCAA Division I Championship will take place November 23 at Thomas Zimmer Championship Course, in Verona, Wisconsin.
