EDISON, NJ (Jan. 12, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) today announced Siena College as the host of the 2022 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships. The championships will be hosted by Siena in Loudonville, New York at The Crossings of Colonie course on Saturday, October 29, 2022.
This will be the second time Siena serves as host of the cross country championships, having previously hosted the event in 2018 at The Crossings of Colonie. In 2019, Siena was named as the host for the 2020 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships but due to Covid-19, the championships were cancelled and later hosted in the spring in Atlantic City.
“The MAAC is excited to grant Siena the opportunity to host the 2022 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships next fall at The Crossings of Colonie,” said Lauren Eads, MAAC Senior Associate Commissioner/COO. “With the cancellation of the traditional championships last fall due to Covid-19, resulting in the championships being moved to the spring of 2021 in Atlantic City, Siena unfortunately missed out on the opportunity to host the 2020 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships as originally planned. Therefore, it was important that Siena was given the opportunity to host the championships next fall and we look forward to working with them on the event.”
“While we’ve had to wait a little longer than expected to get the MAAC Championship races back to Loudonville, I’m very excited that the MAAC has given us another opportunity to host in 2022,” said Siena Head Coach, John Kenworthy. “The 2018 championship was a great success for us as a program, for Siena as a whole, and I’m really excited to welcome the MAAC back to The Crossings of Colonie this fall.”
