EDISON, NJ (Jan. 13, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2022 Preseason Coaches’ Polls for men’s and women’s tennis, as voted on by the league's head coaches. Monmouth University was unanimously selected as the men’s preseason favorite and Quinnipiac was chosen as the women’s preseason choice.
The Hawks, which will be seeking their sixth straight MAAC men’s crown, were the unanimous choice in the men’s poll earning all seven first-place votes for a total of 49 points. Monmouth has won each of the last five men’s tennis championships since 2016 and has played in the championship final every year since the program’s first season in the MAAC during 2013-14.
2021 runner-up Fairfield University was tabbed second behind Monmouth, receiving 41 points, while Quinnipiac University rounded out the top three with 34 votes. Siena College (26) was picked fourth, Marist College (23) was selected fifth, Niagara University (16) was voted sixth, and Rider University (7) closed out the preseason poll in seventh.
The Bobcats received a total of 46 points with four first-place votes in the women’s poll. Quinnipiac has made the women’s championship title match in all seven seasons that the Bobcats have been a member of the MAAC since 2013-14, winning five straight championships from 2014 to 2018, while being runners-up the past two championships.
Fairfield was a close second behind Quinnipiac, earning 41 points with one first-place vote, while defending MAAC champions, Siena finished in third-place, accounting for 39 points and the final two first-place votes. Marist (25) was selected fourth, both Monmouth and Niagara tied for fifth-place each getting 19 points and Rider (7) rounded out the preseason poll in seventh.

The 2022 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships will take place on April 23-24 at Mercer County Park Tennis Center in West Windsor, NJ. This will be the 10
th consecutive championship held at Mercer County Park Tennis Center dating back to the 2012 MAAC Men's & Women's Tennis Championships.
