NEW YORK, NY ( January 27, 2022) – The 2021-22 EGCF MAAC-BIG EAST Challenge returns Saturday with 11 schools squaring off head-to-head in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
On Nov. 30, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and BIG EAST finalized broadcast and event plans, with the Electronic Gaming Federation, the governing body for Division I collegiate esports, producing the events. The pair of conferences first faced off on Dec. 4 in Rocket League, with the BIG EAST outlasting the MAAC, 4-2.

Saturday’s competition will consist of a tournament style single elimination bracket, with the programs pre-seeded based off previous performances.
In Saturday’s opening round, Seton Hall will take on No. 8-seed Fairfield at Noon ET. The match will stream live

The winner will advance to take on top-seeded Siena at 1:35 p.m., with the match streamed

HERE, Georgetown will square off against No. 6-seed Canisius, with the winner advancing to play No. 3-seed Marist at 4:45 p.m.

Earning an automatic quarterfinals berth, St. John’s takes on No. 4-seed Quinnipiac at 3:10 p.m.

Both semifinal matches will air at 6:20 p.m., with one match streamed on
twitch.tv/officialEGF and the other on
twitch.tv/EGFssbu. A champion will then be crowned Saturday night, with the Grand Finals scheduled for 8 p.m. on the
official EGF twitch page.
The MAAC-BIG EAST Challenge follows the Fall 2021 Split of EGFC Season 3, which hosted 35+ Division I colleges over 6 game titles. The season resumes in February with the start of the EGFC Season 3 Spring Split with an expected 50+ Division I colleges and universities will continue the path to the national championship in April.
