Marist’s McDonald, Pleasants, Canisius’ Giese, Earn Softball Weekly Awards

Player of the Week:

McDonald hit .667, as she went 10-for-15 with three multi-hit games in Marist's four contests this past week. She had a 1.906 OPS (1.200 slugging, .706 on-base) and contributed eight RBIs, six runs scored, two home runs, four stolen bases, a triple, and two walks. McDonald went 4-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs scored, a home run, and a stolen base in a 15-13 win over Lafayette on May 4. In a doubleheader sweep of Saint Peter's on May 9, McDonald combined to go 5-for-7 with five RBIs, four runs scored, a home run, a triple, two stolen bases, and a walk.
 
Pitcher of the Week:
Megan Giese, Canisius

Megan Giese threw her second no-hitter this season and the 30th no-no in program history on Sunday versus Niagara. Giese allowed just one walk in the second, throwing just 65 pitches in the five-inning mercy rule victory en route to Canisius earning the MAAC Regular Season Title.
Giese struck out six batters in her league-leading 11th win and became just the fourth pitcher in Canisius history to throw multiple no-hitters in a single season.
 
Rookie of the Week:
Maddie Pleasants, Marist
Fr., Rhodesdale, MD, Cambridge-South Dorchester
 
Pleasants hit .500 (5-for-10) with a 1.445 OPS (.545 on-base, .900 slugging) this past week. She had seven RBIs and four runs scored, including two games with three RBIs. She also contributed a home run, a double, and a walk. In Marist's 15-13 win over Lafayette on May 9, she went 1-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs scored, and a home run. In the first game of a doubleheader at Saint Peter's on May 9, she was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a run scored, and a double. In the second game, she went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored as a hitter, and also pitched a four-hit shutout, as she needed just 80 pitches to get through seven innings. Pleasants went 2-0 in her two appearances in the circle this week.
