Geiger Named Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award Finalist

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - Niagara women's lacrosse senior Maren Geiger has been named a finalist for the YRL Unsung Hero Award announced Tuesday afternoon.

This award is given by the One Love Foundation in honor of Yeardley Love and recognizes the accomplishments of men's and women's collegiate lacrosse players from Divisions I, II, and III who demonstrate dedication, integrity, humility, hard work, community service, leadership, kindness, and sportsmanship - all qualities Yeardley exemplified throughout her life.

"We are thrilled to see Maren recognized as a finalist for the YRL Unsung Hero Award," said head coach Wendy Stone. "Maren has worked tirelessly on our team and on this campus to raise awareness about domestic violence, sexual wellness, and social justice issues. We know her work on our campus will continue to reveal itself on a larger scale as she moves forward. We could not be more proud of Maren!"

Geiger, a four-year member of the women's lacrosse program, accumulated over 800 minutes between the pipes for the Purple Eagles, recording 150 career saves, a .442 save percentage, and a 13.20 goals-against average. This season she made a season-high nine saves against Louisville.

Off the field, she is a member of Niagara's student government and works in the office for equity and inclusion, and she was recently recognized as the Nicholas Albano Student Advocacy Award winner.

The six winners of the award will be announced later this month.
