Fairfield’s Belfer and Siena’s McDade Clay Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Edison, NJ (Feb. 15, 2023) –Fairfield's Alexey Belfer and Siena's Delia McDade Clay have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Men's Swimming & Diving

Alexey Belfer set two individual school records and was part of three relay school records during the 2023 MAAC Swimming & Diving Championships in Buffalo this past week. He placed second in the 50 freestyle with a school record time of 20.17. He also took second in the 100 free by completing the distance in a Fairfield record time of 44.43. Belfer was also part of three relay Fairfield relay records during the MAAC Championships, helping set the standard in the 200-medley relay, the 400-medley relay, and the 400 free relay. The junior is studying Accounting at Fairfield University.
 
Delia McDade Clay

Women's XC/Track
 
A native of Rochester, New York, McDade Clay has put together a heralded running career at Siena, which included one of the best women's cross-country campaigns to-date. A two-time All-MAAC finisher in cross country, she placed fourth this season and helped the Saints to their third straight second place finish. She also earned All-East honors with an 11th place finish at the ECAC Cross Country Championships and was an All-East Region selection after placing 22nd at the NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Championships. She currently ranks inside the program's top-5 in five individual track events and was part of school record 4x800 and distance medley relay teams. 
 
Set to graduate with a degree in psychology, McDade Clay holds a 3.76 cumulative GPA, and has been a MAAC All-Academic Team and MAAC Academic Honor Roll member. She was selected as an NCAA Division I Cross Country All-Academic selection following her regional finish, and currently serves as the chair of both the Siena and MAAC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committees.
