2023 MAAC Water Polo Championship Set to Begin Friday

EDISON, NJ (Apr. 27, 2023) – The 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Water Polo Championship field will feature Wagner College, Marist College, Long Island University, Iona University, Mount St. Mary’s University and La Salle University.
 
The MAAC Water Polo Championship is a six team, single elimination tournament. The top three seeds from each division of the conference advance to the postseason tournament.
 
Opening round competition begins on Friday, April 29 with No.3 LIU taking on No. 6 La Salle in the first matchup at 1pm.  LIU swept La Salle during regular season play (2-0), gaining decisive wins (16-5, 10-5) in both contests. In the second opening round matchup, No. 4 Iona will face off with No. 5 Mount St. Mary’s at 4pm. Iona and Mount St. Mary’s split their regular season series, with Mount St. Mary’s edging Iona 9-8 on 3/18 and Iona taking down The Mount 11-8 on 3/25.
 
Regular season co-champions and winners of their respective divisions Wagner College (13-0, MAAC) and host school, Marist College (12-1, MAAC), will take on the winners of the opening round games in the semifinal round on Saturday, April 29.
 
The 2023 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be held at McCann Natatorium on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. Marist has hosted the Water Polo Championship since 2003. The opening round begins Friday, April 28, followed by the semifinal round on Saturday, April 29, and the final round will take place on Sunday, April 30. All rounds of the 2023 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
