2023 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship to Begin on Saturday

EDISON, NJ (Apr. 28, 2023) – The 2023 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Lacrosse Championship will begin Saturday, April 29 with two opening round games. No.4 seed Siena College will host No.5 seed, Sacred Heart University on April 29 at 12pm in the first opening round matchup. The second opening round game will take place between No.3 seed, Marist College and No. 6 seed, Quinnipiac University at 7pm at Marist's Tenney Stadium.
 
The 2023 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship will take place between April 29 and May 6, 2023. The six-team, single-elimination tournament will start on Saturday, April 29 with the opening round games being hosted by Siena College and Marist College. The semifinals and championship final will be hosted by, Manhattan College, the highest seed in the field and will be played on Thursday, May 4 and Saturday, May 6. The championship title game will start at 12 p.m. with the match airing live on ESPNU.
 
Manhattan College and Mount St. Mary's shared the 2023 MAAC Regular Season title with a record of 7-2 in MAAC play. Manhattan's 9-3 win over Mount St. Mary's on 3/11 gives the Jaspers the top seed in this year's Men's Lacrosse Championship.  Mount St. Mary's comes into the tournament as the No. 2 seed and will look to claim the Men's Lacrosse Championship title in The Mount's inaugural season in the MAAC.
 
Opening Round
 
No.4 Siena (5-4, 7-6 MAAC) vs. No.5 Sacred Heart (5-9, 5-4 MAAC)

In the lone matchup between Siena and Sacred Heart this season, Siena picked up the victory in a 11-8 outing. The Saints will look to improve to 2-0 at home against the Pioneers and earn a place in the semifinal round of the Men's Lacrosse Championship. Siena defeated No. 2 seed Mount St. Mary's on the road in the regular season finale to earn the No. 4 seed and hosting privileges in the opening round. Siena's Ryan McCarthy leads the Saints in points on the season (41 points), followed by Christian Watts and George Rusnak (36 points). Sacred Heart comes into the matchup being led offensively by Jake Ward (35 points) and Sal Miccio (34 points).
 
 
No.3 Marist (7-7, 6-3 MAAC) vs. No.6 Quinnipiac (7-6, 5-4 MAAC)

In the second and final opening round matchup, No. 3 Marist takes on No. 6 Quinnipiac. During the regular season when the teams faced off, Quinnipiac picked up a 14-12 win at home in Hamden, CT. Marist looks to even the score as they host Saturday's opening round matchup at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field. The Red Foxes, led by preseason MAAC Player of the Year Jojo Pirreca, were picked to finish first in the league prior to the start of the season, and will look to advance as the No. 3 seed in the field.
