EDISON, NJ (Jan. 26, 2026) – Defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) champions, Siena University, has been selected as the top team in the 2026 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Preseason Coaches’ Poll, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches. Marist University’s Collin Patrick was named Preseason Player of the Year.
For the third year in a row, Siena has been voted as the preseason top choice, collecting the most votes in the poll with 74 points and five first place votes. The Saints wrapped up the 2025 campaign with an 11-4 overall record and 7-1 MAAC record. Siena advanced to the 2025 MAAC Championship, its second title berth in three seasons, winning the program’s fourth MAAC title with a 12-8 victory over Sacred Heart. Siena’s four MAAC Championships are tied for most in league history, having also won the league crowns in 2009, 2011, and 2014. The Saints have also appeared in eight MAAC Championship title games, the most appearances by a team in league history.
Marist was picked second in the poll with 72 points and three first place votes, while Sacred Heart University was chosen third with 70 points and the final first place vote. Quinnipiac University (52) and Mount St. Mary’s University (38) rounded out the top five of the poll.
Patrick, a junior attack for the Red Foxes, was named as the Preseason Player of the Year. A native of Raleigh, NC, Patrick was one of three players named unanimously to the 2026 Preseason All-MAAC Team. A 2025 All-MAAC First Team member following his sophomore season, he appeared in all 16 games for Marist, totaling 61 points, with 37 goals and 24 assists. Patrick ranked second in the MAAC in goals, points, and points per game, while ranking third in goals per game, assists, assists per game, shots and shots per game.

The 2026 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship is a five-team, single-elimination championship taking place from April 26 through May 2, 2026. The first round will be hosted by the #4 seed, the semifinals and championship will be hosted by the top overall seed.
