EDISON, NJ (June 1, 2023) – A trio of Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s lacrosse senior standouts, were selected to an Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) 2023 Division I Senior All-Star game roster, announced by the IWLCA today.
Skylar McArthur from Canisius College was selected to the DI North Team, while the duo of Kat Henselder of Quinnipiac University and Mary Soures of Siena College were placed on the DI South Team.
A First Team All-MAAC selection the past two seasons, McArthur finished her Canisius career with 105 goals, 112 points and 117 draw controls. The Canadian National Team member eclipsed two milestones in her final campaign with the Blue and Gold, notching her 100th career point on April 8 against Mount St. Mary's and scoring her 100th career goal versus Fairfield on April 30.
The MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year, Henselder helped the Bobcats earn their first MAAC postseason win in program history as they knocked off Canisius in the quarterfinal round. She was a key part as Quinnipiac ended the year with a 10-win season, the first since the 2011 campaign, as well as the program's first berth in the MAAC semifinals. Among her senior classmates, she was fourth in save percentage (.507), eighth in both total saves (174) and saves per game (9.67) and was ninth in goals-against average (10.09).
Soures ended her Siena career as the program’s all-time leading goal scorer with 189. She was also named to the All-MAAC First Team, was the unanimous Preseason All-MAAC Player of the Year, and was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week back on March 27 this season. Additionally, Soures became just the second player in program history to reach 200 career points. Soures set the record for Siena’s all-time goal lead during the season opener on February 16 at Colgate and finished as the season's team leader in goals with 43.
The Senior All-Star game will be held on Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, MD on Saturday, June 3, 2023. The Division I game will start at 2:30 p.m. with admission free of charge.
