Savage, Barnes, and Fitzgerald Win Final 2024 Ticket Smarter MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards of the Season

Offensive Player of the Week
Andra Savage, Niagara
Sr., Palmyra, NY, Palmyra-Macedon
 
Savage recorded a total of 15 points on 13 goals and a pair of assists. At Canisius on Wednesday she recorded a Niagara single-game record of eight goals as Niagara defeated Canisius 16-12. Savage then scored five times and added two assists in the Purple Eagles' 22-5 win over Quinnipiac. Savage leads the MAAC and NCAA in goals scored this season.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Lindsey Barnes, Fairfield
Gr., Malvern, PA, Academy of Notre Dame de Namur

Barnes headed up the defensive effort as Fairfield won two road games to complete an unbeaten MAAC regular season. The graduate student tallied five caused turnovers and six ground balls in wins at Rider and Siena. Fairfield allowed just 9.5 goals per game for the week, holding the high-powered Saints scoreless in the first quarter and conceding only two goals in the first half in Loudonville.
 
Rookie of the Week
Maddie Fitzgerald, Canisius
Fr., Rochester, NY, Our Lady of Mercy
 
Fitzgerald had a strong week, posing six goals, two ground balls, one caused turnover and two draw controls. Against Niagara, she had five goals, two ground balls, a caused turnover and two draw controls. Against Rider, she scored one goal. For the week, she went 4-for-6 on free-position shots.
 
The 2024 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship will take place between April 28 and May 5, 2024. The six-team, single-elimination tournament will open on Sunday, April 28 with the opening round hosted by the higher seed of each matchup. The semifinals and championship final will be hosted by the top overall seed in the field and will be played on Friday, May 3 and Sunday, May 5.
