EDISON, NJ (Dec. 18, 2025) – Two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) student-athletes have been selected as alternatives for their respective NCAA Oversight Committees. Francesca DiCamillo of Canisius University has been selected to the Rowing Oversight Committee and Madeline (Maddy) Gill of Niagara University was selected to the Women’s Lacrosse Oversight Committee.
DiCamillo enters her third season on the Canisius rowing team where she will serve as a team captain. She joined the Canisius rowing program as a walk-on in the fall of 2023 and worked her way into the stroke seat of the varsity eight boat by the spring season in 2024, a matter of just a few months. DiCamillo notably raced in the sixth seat of a boat that placed second in the USA RowFest U-23 Summer Nationals. A 2024 MAAC All-Academic Team selection, DiCamillo is majoring in sport management at Canisius where she currently holds an internship with Legends Global who has been involved with project management, sales and partnerships for the construction of New Highmark Stadium, the future home of the Buffalo Bills. DiCamillo holds a 3.7 cumulative grade point average during her three years.
Gill is a senior midfielder on the Niagara women’s lacrosse team. She is a two-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection. The senior biology major was also named to the IWLCA 2025 Division I Academic Honor Roll. Gill has appeared in 53 games and started 18 contests over the last three seasons and was a crucial part to Niagara’s 2024 MAAC Championship. She also led the Purple Eagles with 57 goals and 62 points last season on way to being named to the All-MAAC First Team.
Each Division I championship sport has its own oversight committee and authority to adopt legislation related to the sport in the following areas: conduct of athletics personnel (NCAA Bylaw 11), recruiting (Bylaw 13), playing and practice seasons (Bylaw 17), processes and procedures related to the administration of the regular season and championship (Bylaw 31), and sportsmanship and other ethical behaviors. Legislation adopted in the specified areas is not considered final and effective until the conclusion of the specified Division I Administrative Committee meeting.
In sports other than football and basketball, sports oversight committees have a playing rules subcommittee and a championships subcommittee.
