WEST WINDSOR, NJ (Apr. 24, 2025) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has announced the 2025 Men’s Tennis postseason Major Award winners and All-MAAC Teams, voted on by the league’s nine head coaches.
Oscar Martinez of Siena College was named as the 2025 MAAC Player of the Year. A sophomore from La Guaira, Venezuela, Martinez was one of three players to be unanimously chosen to the All-MAAC First Team at the singles position, while also making the All-MAAC First Team at the doubles position with Siena teammate, Emilio Zavala Salinas. He went 7-1 at #1 singles in the MAAC and 23-9 overall, most notably earning three wins this season over Niagara’s Tanner Bedard, one of the other unanimous All-MAAC choices. When teaming up with Salinas at #1 doubles, Martinez was a perfect 4-0 in the MAAC and 7-2 overall. His compiled overall doubles record for the season was 24-12, having gone 17-10 with teammate Dylan Breen as well. During the fall portion of the season, Martinez won the inaugural MAAC Masters Tournament Singles Championship on October 6, qualifying for the ITA Conference Masters Championship. Last season’s MAAC Rookie of the Year, Martinez also collected a pair of MAAC Player of the Week honors this season, winning the weekly awards on February 19 and April 23.
Merrimack College’s Matuesz Gradski garnered 2025 MAAC Rookie of the Year honors. Gradski was the third and final unanimous All-MAAC First Team pick, one of just two freshmen to be named to the first team at the singles position, and the only Merrimack athlete to earn postseason honors in 2025. A native of Ridgewood, New York, he went 6-2 in MAAC play, competing at both the #1 and #2 positions during the season. Overall, Gradski captured five wins at the topflight and picked up three wins at the #2 singles spot.
The 2025 MAAC Coach of the Year was Mount St. Mary’s University head coach Leandros Misdrachis. Misdrachis, who is amid his second season with the program, was named interim head coach in September, before having the interim tag removed on April 10. He led the Mountaineers to a 13-6 overall record and 5-3 MAAC tally, finishing the regular season in a second-place tie and securing the Mount’s first-ever berth in the MAAC Championships field. Under Misdrachis this season, the Mountaineers won their most overall matches since the 2012-13 campaign and the five MAAC victories were the most since joining the league three seasons ago after going a combined 0-12 through their first two years in the conference. The Mount’s 13 total wins led the league in 2025, they were the only team to go unbeaten at home (8-0), and their .684 winning percentage was also a league best.
