MAAC Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Championships Semifinals and Finals Set for this Weekend; Both Finals to Air Nationally on ESPNU

EDISON, NJ (May 1, 2025) – The 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Championships conclude this weekend, with the men’s semifinals and final set for Thursday, May 1 and Saturday, May 3 at Sacred Heart University, while the women’s semifinals and final will be on Friday, May 2 and Sunday, May 4 at Mount St. Mary’s University. Both the men’s and women’s championship games will air live nationally on ESPNU, while all four semifinal round contests will air on ESPN+.
 
The first men’s semifinal will feature host and top-seeded Sacred Heart versus No. 6 Quinnipiac at 3:00 p.m. The defending MAAC Champions and 2025 Regular Season Co-Champs, the Pios, begin their title defense with a 7-1 MAAC mark, 11-2 overall mark. Sacred Heart went a perfect 6-0 at home this season and are riding a seven game winning streak. The Quinnipiac Bobcats secured their spot in the semifinals following a 12-10 upset win over No. 3 Canisius University on Sunday.
 
The second semis matchup puts No. 2 Siena College against No. 4 Marist University in primetime at 7:00 p.m. The Saints also earned a share of the 2025 MAAC Regular Season Championship along with Sacred Heart, going 7-1 in league play and 9-4 overall. Siena is riding a seven game unbeaten streak heading into the semifinals. The Marist Red Foxes knocked off No. 5 Manhattan University, 16-7 in the first round.
 
The two winning teams will advance to the championship final on Saturday, May 3, with opening face-off for the title at 12:30 p.m. on ESPNU. 2025 will mark the fourth consecutive season the MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship final will be played on ESPNU, and this will be the seventh time overall the contest will air on the national stage dating back to 2017.
 
The women’s semifinal will open with host Mount St. Mary’s taking on No. 4 Iona University at 12:00 p.m. The Mount finished the regular season 11-5 and a 7-1 in the MAAC, clinching a share of the MAAC Regular Season title, the program’s first-ever, and the top overall seed in the MAAC Championship field. The Mountaineers were the only conference team with 11 or more overall wins this season. The Iona Gaels handled No. 8 Rider University, 15-7, in the second round to earn a berth into the semis. The victory for Iona was first MAAC postseason win in program history.
 
Meeting in the second semifinal contest will be No. 2 Fairfield University and No. 3 Siena, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The Fairfield Stags were 2025 MAAC Regular Season Co-Champions with the Mountaineers, going 7-1 in league action and 9-7 overall. Fairfield previously won five straight MAAC titles from 2018 to 2023 before falling in the championship final last season but ultimately earning the MAAC’s first ever NCAA At-Large berth. The Siena Saints enter the semifinals as the hottest team in the league, riding a seven game winning streak to date. Siena defeated No. 7 Quinnipiac, 15-9 in the second round to punch its ticket into the conference’s top four.
 
The winners of the semifinals will meet in the championship final on Sunday, May 4, with first draw for the trophy at 11:00 a.m. on ESPNU. The finale will mark the first time in league history that the MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship will air nationally on ESNPU.
