2025 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Semifinals Concludes with Sacred Heart and Siena Advancing to the MAAC Championship

FAIRFIELD, CT (May 1, 2025) - The 2025 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Championship continued Thursday with the remaining four teams facing off in MAAC semifinals, all in pursuit of getting to the MAAC title match on Saturday, May 3. No. 1 Sacred Heart knocked off No. 6 Quinnipiac 18-11, and No. 2 Siena survived a test from the No. 4 Red Foxes in game two of the night. Siena will take on Sacred Heart on the Pioneer’s home field in the 2025 MAAC title game, which is streaming live on ESPNU Saturday afternoon at 12:30pm.

The top-seeded Sacred Heart University men's lacrosse team is heading back to the MAAC Championship game after a commanding 18-11 semifinal victory over No. 6 Quinnipiac on Thursday afternoon at Campus Field. The win sends the Pioneers to their second straight conference title game.
Sacred Heart showcased its offensive depth with 11 different players finding the back of the net. Cayden Brodnax led the charge with a career-best four-point outing, including his first collegiate hat trick. Graduate attacker Michael Moreschi matched his career high with six points (2 goals, 4 assists), while graduate goalkeeper Alex Pazienza reached a milestone with his 600th career save.
The Pioneers surged early, scoring 10 goals in the first half and entering the break with a 10-4 advantage. SHU tacked on five more in the third quarter to take control, leading 15-5 before holding off a late push from the Bobcats.
Luke Romanek was dominant at the faceoff X, winning 18-of-26 draws and collecting a career-high 15 ground balls. Pazienza recorded 10 saves, while Craig Daria added one in relief.
The Bobcats battled hard but despite a valiant effort led by standout performances from Nate Watson and Nick Meoni, they were unable to counter the Pioneer’s offensive attacks. Watson powered the Bobcats’ offense with a six-point outing—his third straight hat trick and second-highest point total of the season—scoring three goals and dishing out three assists. His first-half hat trick pulled Quinnipiac within three at 7-4 midway through the second quarter, but the Pioneers responded with a three-goal burst in the final minutes of the half to reclaim momentum and take a 10-4 lead into the break.
Meoni contributed two goals, four ground balls, and matched his career-high with three caused turnovers, marking his second straight multi-goal game and third consecutive outing with three takeaways. Johnny Karafa added two goals for the Bobcats, while Justin Robbert extended his streak with a fourth straight multi-point performance (1 goal, 2 assists).
Goalkeeper Mason Oak turned in another strong showing, stopping 16 shots.
 
No. 2 Siena (10-4, 7-4 MAAC) vs. No. 4 Marist (8-8. 5-3 MAAC)

In a thrilling, back-and-forth semifinal battle between the Siena Saints and the Marist Red Foxes, Siena netted a last-minute goal to secure their spot in the 2025 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse title game. In a game that saw seven ties and four lead changes, the Saints and Red Foxes each answered each other’s goals with one of their own. Ryan McCarthy delivered the game-winning goal with 1:43 remaining in the fourth, capping off an intense and emotional semifinal at Campus Field.
Conor Hufnagel paced Siena with a hat trick and two assists, while Patrick Radomski added three goals of his own. McCarthy contributed two goals and a game-high three assists—including helpers on both the tying and winning goals. Goalie Andrew Arcuri stood tall in the cage, turning aside 16 shots, including a point-blank save as time expired in regulation.
Marist was led by Collin Patrick and Sean Mullan, who each tallied three goals. Marist’s goalkeeper Adam Wachholder tallied eight saves on the day, contributing to the Marist’s strong defensive effort.
 
 
The 2025 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place from April 27 through May 3, 2025. The first round will be hosted by No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, while the semifinals and championship will be hosted by the top overall seed. All rounds of the championship will reseed.
