Siena’s Almeida and the Fairfield Pair of Chomow and Vaz Garner MAAC Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Lucas Almeida, Siena

Lucas Almeida tied a Siena single-match record with four assists in the team's 4-0 win over Canisius on Oct. 1. In assisting on each goal of the match, he also set a new MAAC single-match high for the 2025 season. Additionally, the junior scored the Saints' first goal against Rider on Oct. 4 to spark a second half comeback in a 3-3 draw.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Evan Chomow, Fairfield

Evan Chomow allowed one goal in each of his two starts last week as the Stags posted a 1-0-1 mark. Against 17th-ranked Marist, Chomow faced 17 shots and made seven saves in anchoring the Stags defense. Five of his seven saves came in the second half. He followed up with an eight-save performance in a 1-1 draw against Iona, registering six stops over the final 45 minutes. For the week, he posted a 1.06 goals against average with a .882 save percentage (15 total saves).
 
Rookie of the Week
Alex Vaz, Fairfield
Fr., Trumbull, CT, Trumbull
 
Alex Vaz scored a pair of goals including the game winner in the Stags 5-1 win over previously unbeaten Marist last Wednesday. He also tallied the team's third goal, both coming in the first four minutes of the second half to break open a 1-1 tie at the half. Vaz also started against Iona which ended in a 1-1 draw. Vaz raised his scoring total to a team-high five goals and 10 points.
 
The 2025 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 9-16, 2025. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The first round will take place on Sunday, November 9, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 13, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 16.
