Opening Round of 2026 MAAC Women’s Golf Championship Concludes with Quinnipiac on top of Standings Powered by Northeast Beef

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL (Apr. 21, 2026) – The 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Golf Championship First Round concluded on Tuesday with Quinnipiac University leading the standings.

The Bobcats finished at +11, taking a two-stroke lead over second-place Fairfield University. Reigning McLeod Trophy winner Sophia Fujita paced Quinnipiac at +1, sitting tied for second alongside Fairfield’s Grace Windfelder. Both trail UAlbany’s Thantita Aungsuseewong, who leads the field after firing an even-par round on day one.

After opening with an even-par first hole, Aungsuseewong went on a strong run at one-under over her next five holes. She followed with four straight holes at even par, played the next five at one-over, and closed her round with five consecutive holes at even par.

Windfelder and Fujita remained in close contention. Windfelder opened at one-under through her first six holes, followed with five straight pars, and closed her final seven holes alternating between bogey and par. Fujita started with a par on the opening hole, then found a rhythm over her next 13 holes, mixing birdies and pars. She added another par before finishing her final three holes with three straight bogeys.

After day one, Quinnipiac leads the individual leaderboard with four players in the top 10, while Fairfield sits close behind with three. UAlbany, Siena, Sacred Heart, Manhattan, and Merrimack each have one player in the top 10, highlighted by a six-way tie for seventh place.
