Iona’s Coles and Saint Peter’s Seemon Named Bob McCloskey Insurance MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

Male Student-Athlete of the Week
Aiden Coles, Iona, Outdoor Track & Field
Sr./St. Thomas, Ontario, St. Joseph's Catholic High School

Aiden Coles delivered a historic performance in the 1500-meter run this weekend at the Wake Forest Invitational, competing in the fifth heat of the invitational section, Coles crossed the line in 3:38.71, finishing third overall and setting a new program record. His mark surpasses the previous school record of 3:38.85, set by Damien Dilcher at the 2024 NCAA Preliminaries.

Coles’ performance represents a significant breakthrough, as he shaved nearly three seconds off his previous personal best of 3:41.38, which he recorded just three weeks ago at the Raleigh Relays. The dramatic improvement underscores his strong progression during the outdoor season.

With the result, Coles now ranks 11th in the East Region and 12th nationally, firmly positioning himself among the top middle-distance runners in the country heading into the championship stretch.

Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Paige Seemon, Saint Peter’s, Softball
Fr./Flemington, NJ, Hunterdon Central High School

Freshman Paige Seemon has put together an impressive rookie campaign this softball season. The New Jersey Native has started and played all 45 games in centerfield, providing consistency both defensively and in the batter's box. Through 10 weeks of competition, Seemon has led the Peacocks’ offense with the highest batting average in three different weeks.

Currently, Seemon paces Saint Peter’s with the team’s highest batting average (.331), while also leading in runs scored (22), hits (43), doubles (7), and successful stolen bases (8-for-9). Defensively, she has been flawless in center field, committing zero errors and maintaining a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, the only everyday starter on the roster to do so. She also ranks second on the team in OPS (.773), total bases (53), slugging percentage (.408), and on-base percentage (.365), while sitting fourth in RBIs (10) and putouts (78).

Among MAAC leaders, Seemon ranks 23rd in batting average and 17th in hits. She has recorded eight multi-hit games with two hits, the fourth-most on the team, along with two three-hit performances, tied for the most on the roster. Her nine-game hitting streak this season also ranks as the second-longest by a Peacock this year.

Her best performance to date came in the series finale against Niagara, where Seemon paced the offense with a 3-for-4 outing, driving in two RBIs and raising her batting average to .448.
