Mount St. Mary’s Sits atop of Both Leaderboards Following Saturday of the 2026 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships Powered by Northeast Beef

EMMITSBURG, MD (May 9, 2026) – The opening day of the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Morgan Track in Emmitsburg, MD, wrapped up on Saturday evening, with host school Mount St. Mary’s on top of both the men’s and women’s team leaderboards.
 
Mount St. Mary’s accumulated the bulk of its points in field events, winning four out of eight golds, and compiling 10 total medals on the opening day of action. The Mount swept the podium in the men’s javelin throw, with Brandon Falconer (67.85m) repeating as MAAC Champion, followed by runner-up Thomas Lloyd (64.70m), and bronze medalist Aidan Crawford (58.60m), while Brad Lee Jones finished in fourth to give the Mountaineers the top four spots in the event. Mount went 1-2 in the men’s pole vault, with both Tyler Cash and Ethan Demeter clearing 5.05m to win gold and silver, respectively. In the women’s javelin throw, the Mount took gold and bronze. Rebecca Weir became MAAC Champion throwing a 45.92m, while her Mountaineer teammate took third with her throw of 42.19m. Capturing her second straight MAAC title in the women’s long jump was Mount St. Mary’s Camryn Jones-Howard (5.94m) to cap off the elite day for the Mountaineers.
 
Quinnipiac’s Talia Graham set the MAAC Record in the women’s pole vault, throwing a 3.96m to break the previous meet record of 3.85 which was achieved twice in 2017 and 2025. Other gold medalists on the day included Manhattan’s Thea Dahl in the women’s hammer throw (54.73m), Saint Peter’s Amari Campbell winning the men’s long jump (7.38m), and Grant Eastin from Merrimack who won the men’s hammer throw (57.95m).
 
The first day featured 18 track events, with 14 prelims and four finals. The four final events that capped off the first day’s events were the men’s and women’s 3000 steeplechase and the men’s and women’s 10,000 run. Quinnipiac dominated the two women’s distant races, securing half of the medals. In the steeplechase, the Bobcats had the first and second place honorees in Rachel St. Germain (10:34.67) and Madeleine O'Neill (10:37.35). In the women’s 10k, Sierra Gray of Quinnipiac was crowned MAAC Champion, winning the distance race in a time of 36:54.84. Logan Schaeffler of Marist was victorious in the men’s steeplechase, crossing the finish line with a PR sub-nine mark of 8:59.64. Iona capped off the distance races with the duo of Scott Fagan and Sean Lawton taking the top two podium places in the men’s 10k. MAAC Champion, Fagan clocked in at 31:17.98, while runner-up, Lawton crossed the line at 31:23.72.
