Sacred Heart’s men’s team enters the championship as the preseason favorites coming off the program’s first ever MAAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship title back in February. At the indoor meet, Sacred Heart scored 114 points, to edge Mount St. Mary’s University by just six points. The Pioneers, which is in their second season as a full time MAAC member, will be seeking their first outdoor trophy, following a sixth place ending at last year’s outdoor championship. Defending champion, Rider will look to win its fourth consecutive and sixth overall outdoor title, having clinched league trophies in 2011, 2013, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The Broncs men’s squad finished fourth at the MAAC Indoor Championships in February ending their three-year reign of indoor championships.
On the women's side, Quinnipiac is the favorites after being selected as the top team during the preseason. The Bobcats will look to sweep the 2025-26 season, after winning the 2025 cross country championship in the fall and the 2026 indoor championship during the winter. The cross country trophy was the sixth overall for Quinnipiac, while the indoor crown was the first in program history. The Bobcats are in search of their first outdoor crown, finishing fourth at the outdoor championship a season ago. Rider enters as the three-time defending champions, seeking its fourth straight title – seventh overall – having won the outdoor meet in 2004, 2007, 2013, 2023, 2024, and 2025. The Broncs women’s unit also had its run of MAAC Indoor Championships end in February, finishing fourth after previously winning three in a row.
