Mount St. Mary’s Wins 2026 MAAC Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship Powered by Northeast Beef

EMMITSBURG, MD (May 10, 2026) – Mount St. Mary’s University won the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship at Morgan Track in Emmitsburg, MD, on Sunday afternoon. The Mountaineers dominated from start to finish and compiled a commanding 183.5 points during the two-day event, outscoring runner-up Rider by 76.5 points, ending the Broncs three-year reign at the outdoor championship. The MAAC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field title for the Mount was the first in its program history since joining the league and the fifth overall for the school since joining the Division I ranks, previously winning championships in 1991, 1996, 1997, and 2018.
 
Mount St. Mary’s championship Sunday consisted of winning four gold medals in track events, while collecting 10 medals in total (three silver, three bronze). The Mount made their mark in hurdles and relays, led by Abdulazeez Iyiola, who became a MAAC Champion individually in both the 110m hurdle (14.27) and 400m hurdle (52.17), while also being a leg in the championship 4x400m relay team along with teammates Harrison Akoarrey, Kalani Pu'uloa, and Garrett Wilkerson (3:13.11). Iyiola’s 52.17 finishing time in the 400m hurdle set a new MAAC Championship record. In the 4x100m relay, the quartet of Joshua Dean, Lucas Koon Perez, Kalani Pu'uloa, and Garrett Wilkerson took gold for the Mount, clocking in at 41.46. Also making podiums for Mount St. Mary’s in its championship run on Sunday were Bruno Rivera Borrallo (silver) and Atebeh Awungjia (bronze) in the triple jump, Dante Elliot in the high jump (silver), Garrett Wilkerson in the 400m (bronze), and Dean who earned silver in the 100m and a bronze in the 200m.
