Emmitsburg, MD (May 6, 2023)-Day one of the 2023 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded with both Rider University’s men’s and women’s programs on top of the team leaderboards with 61 and 69 points, respectively.

36 student-athletes, competing in 12 different events, were crowned MAAC Champions on day one of the 2023 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Rider led the field with 10 total team medals, collecting two gold, four silver, and four bronze, while Manhattan and Mount St. Mary’s paced all other MAAC schools with two gold medals on the opening day, followed by Canisius, Iona, Marist, St. Peter’s and Siena who collected one gold medals each.
The Broncs two first place finishes came by way of the men’s javelin and the women’s 10,000 meter run, with Zach Moyer throwing a field-best 55.34 meters and Jordan O’Neill running a best 36:26.64.
Two of the Mountaineers gold medals came in field events, with the pair of Ella Dougher and Rebecca Weir claiming the top spots in the women’s pole vault and women’s javelin throw, respectively.
The Jaspers grab their two top-place finishes when RJ Decker secured another gold medal in the men’s hammer throw, with a toss of 63.68 meters and on the women’s side, Kristin Stickdorn became MAAC champion and new record holder with a throw of 57.70 meters.
