LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ (May 11, 2025) – Rider University jumped up six spots on Sunday afternoon, leading to the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Outdoor Track & Field Championship title, at Michael P. Brady Track & Field Complex in Lawrenceville, NJ. The Broncs, which began the final day in seventh place, compiled 138.5 points on Sunday, leading to 156 total team points and their third straight MAAC Championship. The trophy for Rider was the fifth in its program history.
Rider’s championship rally on Sunday consisted of taking gold in a third of the day’s events, while also collecting seven additional medals (two silver, five bronze). The Broncs dominated field events, taking gold in both jumping events and gold in one of the two throwing events. Michael Palmer swept individual championships in the triple jump (15.08m) and high jump (2.07m), leading to MAAC Field Most Outstanding Performer accolades. In the shot put, Jayden DuBard was crowned MAAC champion following a throw of 16.41m. On the track, Rider’s Tamrat Snyder crossed the line in 1:52.91, claiming the 800m individual gold medal. Lastly, the Broncs 4x800m relay team of Mali Coleman, Ian Smith, Tamrat Snyder, and Josh Voorhees, took the race with a time of 7:45.75, to secure gold.
The quartet of Iona University, Marist University, Merrimack College, and Mount St. Mary’s University each had two gold medalists on Sunday. Iona swept the distance races and podiums, taking first, second and third in both the 1500m and 5000m. The Gaels winners in the 1500 were Bradley Giblin (3:43.36), Duncan Robinson (3:43.56), and Tristan Coles (3:46.59), and their winners in the 5k were Lachlan Wellington (13:57.17), Oliver Boltz (14:11.41), and Matt Rankin (14:21.41). Giblin’s time in the 1500 and Wellington’s time in he 5k were both MAAC championship records. Sweeping the 100m and 200m was Marist’s Amari Mathis, who won the 100 in 10.34 and the 200 in 21.26, leading to Track Most Outstanding Performer honors. Merrimack’s two golds came in back-to-back events, with John Elie winning the 110m hurdles in a championship time of 14.20 and Cory Couture winning the 400m final in a time of 47.11. The Mount’s 4x100m relay team of Torian Neblett, Daniel Reader, Lucas Koon Perez, and Kalani Pu'uloa, took gold by crossing the finish line in 41.19, and Track Rookie of the Meet Abdulazeez Iyiola won individual gold in the 400m hurdle, crossing the line in 54.12.
Additionally, Manhattan University’s Paul Brennan was the MAAC champion in the discus (48.32m) and Sacred Heart University’s 4x400 relay team of Rafael Mahario, Colin Brown, Connor Meikle, and Lance Hayes were also gold medalists (3:14.25).
